Administrative / biographical background:

Opened in 1810 at Middlewich Road by the Wesleyan Methodists. Rebuilt in 1873 at Wesley Avenue.

A Sunday School was built in Chapel Street in 1818. A new building was erected in Wesley Avenue in 1871 being opened in 1871. The Sunday School was used also as a day school until 1961
